Lynnwood Heritage Park & Cultural Attractions

artThere are dozens of things to see and do in and around Lynnwood.  From performing arts, to visual arts to historic sites and nature tours, you will have no trouble filling your time while you are here in Lynnwood.

Be sure to stop by and see Heritage Park in Lynnwood.  There you can experience the history of Lynnwood from its roots as Alderwood Manor.  Historic buildings and a fully restored Interurban Trolley are open for tours year round.

Or, explore Lynnwood on your own and hunt for a geocache treasure on a Historic Walking Tour.  Guides can be downloaded here or may be picked-up at the Lynnwood City Hall Monday-Friday 8:30 AM-5:00 PM.

North to Everett, South to Seattle or here in Lynnwood, there is a performing arts event for every type of arts lover.  You can listen to jazz while you dine, dress up for the symphony, attend a rock concert on the pier, curl up in on a blanket in a local park to watch a theater troupe perform some of Shakespeare’s greatest works, or giggle your way through a comedy juggling act with your children at a local library.  Only your genre taste limits the choices.

Consider the Pacific Northwest Ballet, the Edmonds Center for the Arts or the Driftwood Players to name a few venues located within a few minutes of Lynnwood, outside of downtown Seattle.  Or head to Seattle where you can experience the Seattle Symphony, the 5th Avenue Theater‘s top-quality musical revivals, bound-for-Broadway shows, and touring Broadway musicals.

Dozens of history and special interest museums can be found within a few minutes of Lynnwood too.  If you are traveling with children, be sure to stop in at the Imagine Children’s Museum in Everett, just a few minutes north of Lynnwood or visit the Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Museum at the Pacific Science Center for a unique exploration of the history of music. Natural history museums and art collections from around the Pacific Northwest and around the world can be viewed at a number of galleries in the area including The Seattle Art Museum in downtown Seattle.

Take to the water on a whale watching tour or cruise the shores of the Puget Sound on a sightseeing adventure.  Walk along a Puget Sound beach day or night with a Park ranger along to identify the unique sea life that inhabits the cold Puget Sound waters and sandy beaches..  There are dozens of agricultural tours in the area too.  Visit a working farm at harvest time, pick your own berries or learn about raising sheep at a working sheep ranch.

boeingIf Aviation is an interest, be sure to visit the Future of Flight and Boeing Tour Center at Paine Filed just north of Lynnwood.  You can tour the Boeing assembly line and observe the 787 or the 747 being assembled in the world’s largest building.  Across the runway, you will find the Flying Heritage Collection, an unparalleled collection of vintage World War II aircraft, all restored to flight condition.
