How to Pack for the Pacific Northwest

As you probably already know or at least are now aware, it can be cold and rainy in Northwest Washington all year round though more typically in winter and shoulder season. Come prepared with layers! Items you can easily bundle up under or strip down to cool off. Rain gear is a must especially if you plan to hit the waters adventuring. Think wellies, umbrellas, waterproof jackets and so on. If you plan on swimming the water here is cold, so wet suits are advised.

Summertime certainly allows for shorts and tank tops but evenings tend to always cool down. If you plan to participate in outdoor recreation or if you are just exploring the city on foot excellent walking or hiking shoes are advised.
